Happy Birthday Monkeyman!
Well my little boy is 1! I can't believe it has already been a year since we were blessed with such a loving, determined, adventerous and handsome young man! As I look back over the year I am so proud of my monkey- he let's nothing stop him and I hope this is a trait that he takes with him throughout his life! Watching him grow and learn has amazed me, he has also taught me so much. Through our journey with clubfeet I have learned not to underestimate him, to give him space he needs tp learn new things (even when they scare me- remember my kid has learned to roll over, crawl, climb stairs, walk and run while wearing his boots and bar) as well as the snuggles he needs when his attempts don't get the results he wants. His smile and laugh are so contagious; he has brought such happiness to our lives! I love how whenever he hears music (even if it is only in his head) he starts to rock out by headbanging- no idea where he got this from but it is so cute! I love how he tickles me! I love how he snuggles! I love how he just likes to go go go (even if there are times I would love for him to sit still)! I love everything about my monkeyman! I look forward to seeing what the next year will bring for him. Here are a few pictures I took the last couple days of my big guy. Oh how I love this boy!

ReplyDeleteNope, never underestimate them. I remember when Matthew could jump on his left foot only three times. That was about three years ago. And just this week, he pitched at his baseball game. Struck three out in his inning!
Seeing those feet for the first time can be shocking and makes you wonder how they will ever function. But they do, and they do it perfectly!
I found the first year was all about physical development and the second year was all cognitive. Wait til he starts to talk constantly! So much fun! Enjoy!
I am so happy I ran across your blog. I am 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby and found out 2 weeks ago that he has clubfeet. I have finally gotten a little comfortable with the idea of it, but I am still scared to death. Mostly about the little things, like bathing, nursing, clothing, etc.
